Lyndiane (SNLYN)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The port has an oil refinery and also handles ground nuts.

Lyndiane is situated on the bank of the Saloum River on the W coast of Senegal.

LOA 105m, draught 5.0m, 2,900DWT.

Approx 50 vessels and 66,500t of cargo handled annually.

Anchorage may be obtained only with the assistance of a pilot.

Behind the sandbank, the Saloum River is marked by buoys (red and green) and beacons. One red buoy marked with the number "98" is positioned 10m from the SE of Berth No 7 at Lyndiane. Vessels must keep well clear of this buoy.

High density with very salty water.

Berthing of vessels is only authorised at the berths indicated by white numbers on a black background, visible from the open sea. Red boards indicate the wharves where berthing is prohibited. Berthing arrangements can be made through Sonacos. To berth, vessels must manoeuvre with care at slow speed and pass as far as possible from the prohibited Berths No 7 and 4. Vessels entering the Saloum access channel must constantly monitor frequency 2182kHz.

Contact pilot from Rusiere Saloum, port of Dakar. There is the possibility of a pilot boarding at the mouth of the Sangomar, contact pilot on VHF Ch 16.

Night time entry is forbidden.

Range 1.9m.

Tugs are available from Dakar.

Notify ETA 96, 48 and 12 hours prior to arrival. Message to include cargo to discharge, drums to discharge (if any), draught on arrival, expected draught on departure, last port of call and next port of call. Vessels carrying hazardous and/or strong smelling cargoes, must declare to the harbour master at least 48 hours prior to arrival, the nature/quantity/packing of these goods as well as their stowage onboard. The same applies for Arms and Ammunitions.

Vessels are required to turn at the 'pit' downstream, and berth with the bow facing down river.

Quarantine regulations are strictly enforced and no communication with the shore is permitted until the vessel has been granted pratique.

Documents to be tendered in triplicate (1 for agent, 1 for stevedore and 1 for harbour master).
