📋 Port Overview
✓ ISPS✓ ECA
The port of Storugns lies within a small harbour and handles a range of cargo including limestone, calcium oxide (quicklime) and fuel oil. The port services Klinthagen quarry, one of the largest limestone quarries in Scandinavia, by exporting limestone to various destinations around the Baltic Sea. The limestone is also processed into calcium oxide (quicklime) by Nordkalk’s subsidiary (Kalkproduktion AB) KPAB and handled at the port. The extraction of limestone in the quarry started in the 1960’s, and operations have been handled by Nordkalk since 1983. Within the quarry lies Storugns wind farm which consists of 6 x 660 kW turbines.

General notices & regulations
The following rules apply to all vessels using the port for loading: ..... 1. Permission to load is not obtained until a STEM and laycan has been agreed in written correspondence between Nordkalk and owner of the vessel. Permission to load then must be obtained from the Nordkalk shipping department before commencement of loading. Permission to load only means that the product ordered is available for loading and does not mean that a fixed time for loading is guaranteed. 2. Vessels may not berth without permission. When the Nordkalk find it necessary it may order the vessel to shift and the master shall without delay follow the orders from the port officers. 3. The vessel's size, type of product, order for loading, and the rules about turn in Articles 4 and 5 are decisive for which berth that will be used for loading. 4. The principle rule for turn during working days is that the vessels will be loaded in turn based on when they have given Notice of Arrival according to Article 1 Section 2 (ETA). 5. Notwithstanding the turn according to the principle rule the Nordkalk has the right to: a. Order a later arrived vessel to load before an earlier arrived vessel if it is possible to load before an earlier vessel b. Order a later arrived vessel to load before an earlier arrived vessel if the earlier arrived vessel is not ready for loading c. Allow a later arrived vessel to load before an earlier arrived vessel if the earlier arrived vessel has not given ETA notices or reported changes in ETA in accordance with article 1 (ETA). d. The turn for loading may also be adjusted for reasons mentioned in Article 3. 6. The vessel's officers shall make sure that the vessel's holds are clean and that the vessel's ballast condition is such that loading can be performed without hindrance. Loading shall be planned in such a way that shifting of the vessel and shifting of shore based loading equipment, is avoided as far as possible. 7. Unless otherwise agreed, vessels are loaded free onboard with available equipment. Costs for labour, trimming and separation of the cargo shall be paid by the vessel. 8. If the vessel is damaged or similar within the port area or near the port, in such a way that traffic for other vessels or loading is hindered or prevented, the vessel's owner, or the operator of the vessel, shall take away the vessel without delay. 9. Any refusal to follow Nordkalk's orders, or any other breach of these rules may lead to loss of turn, charged a penalty, non acceptance of loading and/or liability for damages.
