Hoganas (SEHOG)

Hoganas harbour is privately owned by Hoganas AB, who handle their own dry cargoes.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Hoganas is situated in the Oresund, approx 20km N of Helsingborg.

LOA 130m, draught 7.4m.

Outside Hoganas or Helsingborg as per advice from the pilots.

From a position about 4nm W of the harbour, the track leads E in the white sector (088.3°-098°) of Hoganas Pierhead Light. The alignment (093°) of Ranna Leading Lights leads E from the vicinity of Oresunds Norra Lightbuoy (safe water) through the dredged channel, bottom width 40m, marked by buoys and lightbuoys (lateral) at its inner end, passing (positioned from Hoganas Pierhead Light): S of Mollegrund (1.1nm WNW), marked by a buoy (port hand). Then S of Askegrund (0.6nm WNW), rocky shoal and N of Sparbossan (0.7nm WSW), shoal, marked on its NW side by a lightbuoy (N cardinal), where the track continues E to pass close S of the harbour pier, then N to the berth. The leading marks may be difficult to distinguish against the trees behind them.

Provided from Helsingborg, and by previous arrangement board at Oresunds Norra Lightbuoy, 1.8nm W of the harbour. Pilot station monitors VHF Ch 80.

Hoganas Pierhead Light (white tower, red band, height 10m, floodlit) (56° 11.8'N 012°32.8'E). Ranna Leading Lights: front light (red and white triangle, point up, on pillar) (56°11.8'N 012°33.5'E); rear light (red and white triangle, point down, on pillar) (750m further E).

Vessels exceeding a draught of 6.7m are required to use a tug or pilot launch to turn in the basin.

None. Current sets N and S across the entrance; the N going current is the more troublesome.

Can be arranged from Helsingborg.
