Aola Bay (SBAOB)

Aola Bay is situated on the NE coast of Guadalcanal Island.

Max LOA 130m, draught 9.9m, 10,027DWT.

Approx 12 vessels visit the port annually.

Vessels to anchor parallel to the shore. Anchorage may be obtained as follows: During the SE trades, in a depth of 18.0m, mud, W of Mbara Island, but clear of a shoal with a depth of 3.7m over it, lying 400m NW of the island. During the NW monsoon, off the E side of Mbara Island.

The approach is clear although there is a shoal to the starboard side of the bay entrance.

Clearance should be obtained at Honiara prior to arrival at this port.
