General notices & regulations
Prior to a vessel's first acceptance at Sture, the 'Questionnaire for Crude Oil Tankers' must be completed and returned by the owners/operators. Incorrect information may result in the rejection of the vessel. During operations no vessel or small craft shall be allowed alongside the vessel unless authorised by the terminal manager or shift supervisor and agreed by the Master. Conditions to be observed during operations: A responsible member of the vessel's crew must be stationed near the main oil cargo control valves during loading and discharging, equipped with portable radio. ..... a. The vessel must by day fly flag "B" of the International Code and by night exhibit an all around red light. b. All doors, portholes and openings leading from the main deck to the accommodation or machinery spaces (other than the pump room) shall be kept closed. The same applies to doors, portholes and openings at any deck level above the main deck which overlook that deck. c. All manually operated ventilators through which gas can enter should be suitably trimmed to prevent such entry. If there is a risk of gas being drawn into the accommodation through mechanical ventilators and air conditioning units they should be stopped to let the air circulate. d. All cargo tank lids should be kept closed and secured, all cargo and bunker hose connections should be blanked and fully bolted when not in use. e. The venting of cargo tanks shall take place only through the vessel's fixed venting system. f. The ullage, sounding and sighting ports must be kept securely closed. g. Overboard suction and discharge valves connected to the cargo or bilge system should be sealed on arrival. Except in emergency, seals may be removed only with the approval of the shift supervisor and in his presence. Attention should be paid to ensure oil does not leak through such valves. i. The mechanical ventilation system of the cargo pump room should be kept in operation and the atmosphere within the pump room should maintain a quality that permits safe entry. j. When topping up cargo tanks, the ship's officer should request the terminal to reduce the loading rate sufficiently to permit effective control of the flow and thus avoid any overflow. k. The ship's officer should notify the terminal prior to the discharge of segregated ballast and report again when this operation has been completed. l. A vessel alongside the jetty must be in a state of readiness for vacating the berth at short notice, except in cases of approved repair work. m.
