Tioman (MYTOD)

Cruise ships call at Pulau Tioman anchorage. The numerous small indentations are filled with rocks and jagged coral reefs along the beaches, and more often than not the state of the sea or swell is such as to make landing hazardous.

Pulau Tioman (Tioman Island) is the name given to both the port and the largest island situated off the E coast of Peninsular Malaysia.

Vessels can anchor on the W side of the island in Tekek Bay, about 0.13nm from the beach, in 14.0-20.0m depths.

Port limit is stated as the area enclosed by the following lines: (A) 02°56'N 104°06'E to a position due E; (B) 02°56'N 104°14'E to a position due S; (C) 02°41'N 104°14'E to a position due W; (D) 02°41'N 104°06'E and returning to the point (A), also including the shoreline within the area specified above to high water mark within 50 yards, subject to the right of private property therein.

Tidal stream: A N going set is usually experienced off the E coast of Pulau Tioman, with a strong counter eddy close inshore off the NE point.
