βœ“ ISPSβœ— ECA
Samalaju Port is a purpose-built port catering primarily to the energy-intensive industries located at the Samalaju Industrial Park. The port will play a vital role in facilitating regional economic growth of the area and delivering significant economic benefits to the region. Development at the port by Samalaju Industrial Port Sdn. Bhd. continues, with construction carried out in phases. The Initial Phase and Phase 1 as the core phases have been completed (Berths W1, W2, W3, W4, W5, W6 and W8). Berth W7 is the tug berth. Phases 2, 3 and 4 (giving up to five additional Handymax berths and two berths for smaller vessels) are to be developed in the future if an increase in demand for cargo shipments justifies proceeding, and when the need for additional port facilities is more certain.
