Lingga (MYLGG)

Only small domestic vessels handled at port. Vessels work cargo at the roadstead anchorage using lighters. The lighters are then loaded and discharged alongside jetty.

The port of Lingga is situated in W Sarawak, 26km from the entrance to the Batang Lupar.

Anchorage can be obtained 1nm N of Lingga in a depth of 4.6m. The holding ground is poor.

There are depths of 3.0-7.0m in the fairway between Pulau Triso and the entrance to Sungai Lingga.

Telephone cables, with a vertical clearance of 23m, cross the river 1nm S of its entrance.

Tidal streams in the area are strong, with a bore occurring in Batang Lapar and Lingga.

Radio: Singapore and Kuching Radio stations, which work throughout 24 hours, can be used for passing messages. VHF: Ch 16.

Customs: Each crew member is allowed 25 cigarettes and 1,135ml of alcoholic drink per day.
