Uchiura (JPUCR)

Uchiura's main role is as a lumber port.

Uchiura is situated at the head of Uchiura Wan, on the coast of Honshu, facing the Sea of Japan.

Max draught 6.3m.

Approx 182,000t of cargo handled annually.

Anchorage, available in Uchiura Ko, in depths of 15.0-25.0m, is very secure; even during strong onshore winds the likelihood of dragging is remote. The quarantine anchorage is 232° x 1,000m from Ohshimawashi Lighthouse.

Approach and entry: The port is entered between Hetaga Saki (35°32'N 135° 30'E), the W extremity of a small peninsula projecting from the E side of Uchiura Wan, and Dan Hana, 0.7nm SSW.

Not compulsory. If required, a pilot will come from Maizuru, 10nm WSW, and will board at the quarantine anchorage, between sunrise to sunset.

The port limit is a line extending 550m SW from Hetaga Saki, the W extremity of a small peninsula projecting from the E side of Uchiura Wan, then S to Dan Hana, 0.65nm SSW of Hetaga Saki.

A light is exhibited from the head of a short breakwater which extends WSW from Hettaga Saki.

Entry or sailing after sunset is possible.

Range, 0.3m (springs), 0.2m (neaps).

There is a tug of 2,600hp available.
