Uno (JPUNO)

Uno Port is the terminus of ferry services with Shikoku. Hibi lies to the S of the port and is principally a shipbuilding and repair centre (see "Hibikinada" entry).

Uno Port is located at the south end of Tamano City, Okayama, on the Seto Inland Sea.

Draught 10.9m, LOA 200m, beam 32.26m, 57,982DWT.

Approx 11,000,000t of cargo and 21,000 vessels handled annually.

There are nine anchorages in the harbours, including five for vessels of up to 10,000GT, in depths of over 9.0m. Anchorage is always calm, being protected by several minor islands. Prohibited anchorage: Anchorage is prohibited in an area S of No. 01 Pier.

Draught limitation in the channel is 13.0m.

Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 10,000GT in routes through Bisan Seto and is recommended for all vessels entering the port. Pilotage is undertaken by Seto Naikai Pilots. Harbour pilots are available between sunrise and sunset. Pilot boards approximately 1nm S of Inumodori Hana.

The port limits enclose the whole port area from Waro Saki (34°31.1'N 133° 57.7'E) to Takozaki Hana, 3.5nm SSW.

Vessels are only able to berth during slack water in the Bisan central passage, between sunrise and sunset.

Mean spring range about 1.9m, mean neap range about 0.9m.

There are 7 tugs available from Mizushima; 1 x 4,000hp, 3 x 3,000hp, 2 x 2,000hp, 1 x 1,000hp.
