Miike (JPMII)

Miike is an open port with extensive coal, oil, salt, chemical and gas product facilities. The chemical and gas berths are located at the S Pier section of the port.

Summer.

Miike is located on the northern coastline of Kyushu Island in Fukuoka prefecture.

LOA 171m, beam 27.2m, draught 10m, 29,825DWT.

Approx 1,960,000t of cargo, 15,000TEU and 2,000 vessels handled annually.

At high tide the channel has a max depth of 12.3m, max permissible draught 10.0m. UKC: Vessels of less than 1,000GT: Vessels should maintain an extra depth of at least 10% when determining the amount of ebb and flow as well as their draughts. Vessels of 1,000GT and over: Vessels should maintain an extra depth of at least 3.0m or more in the central area of vessels when determining the amount of ebb and flow as well as their draughts, and should allow a trim by the stern of 0.5m. However, in the event of a high tide, vessels should make the following adjustment: ..... Compulsory. Harbour pilots, available from sunrise to sunset, board at position 32°59'N 130°23'E. Bay pilots are not compulsory but are available and board 1nm S of Kuchinotsu Lighthouse in position 32°34.5'N 130°12.0'E. Advise ETA Kuchinotsu 48 hours prior to arrival.

Compulsory for vessels of over 1,000GT. Tugs up to 1,100bhp are available.

Prevailing winds: N to NW'ly (winter); SE to SW'ly (summer). Wind velocity: Vessels of over 1,000GT should discontinue entry and departure in the event that the following average wind velocity is exceeded. Vessels of less than 1,000GT not using the services of a harbour pilot should discontinue entry and departure in the event that the average wind velocity of 23kts is exceeded. .....
