Ishinomaki (JPISM)

Ishinomaki is an artificial general cargo port.

Ishinomaki, one of the three principal ports of the Miyagi Prefecture, is situated on the NE coast of Honshu.

Draught 11.9m, LOA 230m, beam 37m, 82,620DWT.

Approx 3,500,000t of cargo & 2,800 vessels handled annually.

A quarantine anchorage is situated 1.8nm ESE of the head of Hibarino Breakwater. A prohibited area is situated between the quarantine anchorage, 1.5nm SE of the head of Hobarino Breakwater and the shore 0.7nm W of Kyu Kitakami Kawa.

A channel, 180m wide, leads NE between the breakwaters to the turning basin. The W side of the approach channel is marked by No 1 Lightbuoy (port hand) moored 0.2nm W of the head of Hibarino Breakwater, which marks the E side. Draught limitation in the channel is 10.0m.

Not compulsory. Pilots are available from sunrise to sunset at position 38° 23.7'N 141°16.1'E. Caution is required as there may be fishing nets in the vicinity of the pilot boarding station.

The limits extend from a point on the shore 1.5nm E of the mouth of Kitakami Kawa, then 1.3nm W, then S for 1.0nm, then WSW for 3.3nm, then NNW to the shore.

Entry or sailing after sunset is possible.

Range max 1.7m; min -2.1m.

There are 7 tugs available; 2 x 3,200hp, 3 x 2,600hp, 1 x 2,400hp, 1 x 2,000hp
