Port Royal (JMPRO)

A new Cruise Terminal facility has opened just over 1.0km NE of the old harbour. The berth consists of an articulated jetty in three sections, which streches out approx 210m to deeper water, where a vessel can anchor and attach itself to the last section of the jetty. This enables passengers direct access to the shore by foot.

Port Royal is situated 4km S of Kingston harbour, on the SW coast of Jamaica. The older harbour lies between Port Royal Point and the W extremity of the Palisadoes, W of the Norman Manley International airport.

Anchorage is available NW of Port Royal Point, and clear of Harbour Shoal and De Horsey Patch, depth 16.0m, mud. Near to the shoals, the bottom is broken coral.

There are two entrance channels to Port Royal, the South Channel with 5.5m depth of water and the East Channel with 18.0m depth of water.
