Torre del Greco (ITTDG)

Torre del Greco Port is a key maritime hub in the Campania region. The port supports diverse economic activities, including fishing, tourism and small-scale commercial trade. It handles a variety of cargo, primarily focused on local goods such as seafood, coral products and artisanal crafts, along with occasional shipments of construction materials and agricultural produce. Equipped to accommodate fishing boats, yachts, and small cargo vessels, the port's strategic location near Naples and the Gulf of Naples enhances its role in regional trade and tourism, making it a vibrant center of activity.

Torre del Greco is a small port situated approx 13km SE of Naples.

LOA 39.6m, beam 9.6m, 120DWT.

A moderate size vessel can anchor close within the entrance and secure its stern to two mooring buoys in the centre of the harbour. It is advisable to give previous notice of arrival, in order that the central and W area of the harbour may be cleared of the small craft which usually anchor there.

The port is approached from SW through Rada di Napoli and entered E of the Outer Mole Head. The entrance depth is 7.9m. The harbour is subject to silting and mariners should confirm available depth of water with the harbour master.

A light structure (red metal column, white banks, on pedestal) 5m in height, is exhibited from the head of a mole 0.25nm in length. A light structure (mast) 6m in height, is exhibited from the head of a short jetty projecting from the E side of the harbour.

Entry, usually by day, is dangerous with SE winds. Entry and departure are prohibited during the hours of darkness and strong SE'ly winds. The light structure, exhibited from the head of the mole, must be given a berth of at least 70m when entering harbour. The spur extending from the end of the Outer Mole constricts the entrance. Masters should remain at least 70m from the Outer Mole Head.

Prevailing winds: NW'ly. During summer NE'ly until midday. During afternoon light offshore breezes develop. In winter S'ly winds are frequent. Gales from this direction are accompanied by high sea state but the weather is generally short lived.

Pratique should be applied for from Sanimare, Naples through agent 24 hours prior to arrival. If vessel is arriving from an infected area, vaccination certificates are required. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates can be renewed upon request to Sanimare Naples/harbour master.
