Porto Garibaldi (ITPGA)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The port is a fishing and pleasure craft centre, with a marina at the mouth of Canale Pallotta.

Porto Garibaldi is located on the E coast of Italy, 29km from Ravenna.

LOA 40m, 3.5m.

The harbour consists of the seaward reach of Canale Pallotta and extends over a distance of about 0.9nm within the molehead. At the W end it is spanned by a road bridge. There are quays on both banks and two basins and a channel have been cut into the S bank, 0.2-0.3nm below the bridge. The harbour is made difficult to enter by sandbanks, about 0.25nm to seaward of the moleheads, which are often formed by currents and which are periodically removed by dredging, also by sandbanks which often form in mid channel between the moles and disappear with the out going tidal stream. The entrance channel has a maximum width of 35-40m with a navigable channel 25m wide, depths 3.9m. The harbour is subject to silting, but periodic dredging is carried out to depths of about 3.9m in the entrance and 3.6m in the harbour.

Power driven vessels are restricted to a maximum speed of 3kts when entering or leaving and 6kts within the harbour.

Tidal streams attain rates of up to 5.0kts in the harbour.

High seas raised by strong winds from the E semi circle render entry hazardous.
