Salawati (IDSWT)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. Salawati is a Pertamina oil terminal consisting of a dolphin berth from which a pipeline extends NNE to the shore and is a major crude oil loading port. Tankers berth on the SE side of the dolphin faces; a storage tanker, the "Wampun" is permanently moored on the NW faces.

Salawati is located off the W coast of Irian Barat, to the North of the Ceram Sea.

The terminal is approached from Selat Sele, and dependent of tidal streams.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Terminal and pilot: Ch 16. Available 24 hours.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document. Crews from communist countries are not allowed to disembark whilst in port.

Should be advised to Salawati Marine Terminal through Sorong Radio 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival giving the following information: ..... 1. Cargo requirements; 2. Time to deballast 3. Max loading rate 4. Draught on arrival 5. Confirmation that vessel has clean bill of health or details of any sickness onboard 6. Last port of call 7. Any leaks which could affect loading or cause pollution; 8. Flange dimension of vessel's manifold connection.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
