Susoh (IDSUS)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. Susoh is one of three ports in South Aceh. The main cargo handled at the port is palm oil (CPO) which is shipped to Jakarta, Surabaya, Belawan, Sibolga and Langsa.

Susoh is located in South Aceh, on the coast of Ujung Serangga.

Approx 41,500t of cargo and 60 vessels handled annually.

Anchorage is available in depths of 9.0-21.0m for 10 vessels up to 3,500GT.

From W: From 3°40'N 96°40'E, the approach leads E along the latitude of 3°40'N passing S of a 4.5m shoal 2 miles SSW of Ujung Arun (3°44.61'N 96°44.72'E) and N of a 7m shoal 5 miles S of Ujung Arun. The approach continues NNE into the bay between Ujung Pulaukayu (3°43.56'N 96°47.48'E) and Ujung Serangga. From SE: From 3°37'N 96°47'E, the line of bearing 334°of the point close W of the casuarina wood on Ujung Arun leads towards Teluk Susoh passing ENE of the 7m shoal, WSW of a 5m shoal (3°39.70'N 96°49.31'E), and WSW of a detached 7m patch (3°41.22'N 96°45'E).

Coastguard is operated by KPLP and the Navy.

If a vessel is unable to berth at the pier, shipment is effected by barge.

Pilotage is not available.

The use of tugs is compulsory.

Apr-Sep, W'ly winds; Oct-Mar, E'ly winds; occasionally, N'ly and S'ly winds. The bay lies open to the W swell and the winds between W and S.

It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio (PXX) or Belawan Radio (PKB), which is then relayed to the port via land line. There is a coastal radio station monitoring 5295.5kHz (SSB). VHF: Ch 16, 0100-0700hrs GMT.

All formalities relating to Customs and Immigration are carried out at the port.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival and last port of call.

Crews are unable to go ashore until checked by the Port Health team.
