Santan Terminal (IDSAT)

Santan Terminal is a crude oil loading terminal. A loading platform for propane lies WNW of the terminal. Santan terminal also a storage and shipping facility for crude oil and Bontan Return Condensate managed by Pertamina Hulu East Kalimantan.

Tropical.

Santan is situated off the E coast of Borneo in the Macassar Strait.

Harbour: LOA 109.7m, draught 7m, 5,000DWT. Off Shore: LOA 275m, draught 18.0m, 125,000DWT.

An anchorage area, with depths from 36-44m, is situated at the W end of the approach channel, between 3.5-7nm SE of Tanjung Santan and about 2.5nm E of the SBM. Holding ground is reported to be good. Anchoring is prohibited within a restricted area approx 2nm of the oil platforms and 1nm of the submarine pipelines.

SBM: Approach is via a channel 1,600m in length, depth 50m. The direction of the approach channel is 257°, but to make good this course a strong cross set, either to N or S, must be guarded against. Santan Shore Terminal: Is approached via a 2nm narrow canal, suitable for small vessels at HW only.

Compulsory. Pilot boards vessel in the anchorage area (00°05.5'S 117°34.0'E). Available for berthing 0600-1800hrs. Night berthing possible with approval from the Harbour Master.

Attaka Oil Field lies 12nm SE of Tanjung Santan. Within the oil field there are several oil production platforms, exhibiting lights, and a conspicuous flare; submarine pipelines are laid within the oil field area, and oil and gas pipelines are laid from the oil field to the shore 5.5nm SSW of Tanjung Santan, at the entrance to a canal which leads to Samarinda. A light beacon stands on each side of the canal entrance.

Berthing is mostly carried out in daylight hours only.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
