Poso (IDPSJ)

Poso is the main town, port and terminal on the northern coast of Central Sulawesi. Main exports include copra and forest products.

Poso is situated on the S coast of Teluk Tomini Bay in the N of Sulawesi.

LOA 130m, draught 4.0m, 6.500DWT.

Large vessels should anchor in a depth of 69m, approaching with the anchor lowered, 0.25nm N of the entrance to Sungai Poso.

Best approached from N, on passing Tanjung Pemandingi. Oil jetty is approached on the continuation of the SW leading coastal passage from Tanjung Putia.

Poso is bounded by the parallel of Tanjung Pemandingi, situated 1.75nm SW of Tanjung Putia.

A light is exhibited at the head of the pier.

Day light berthing only.

Range 0.9m (springs), neaps range about zero. The current sometimes sets out strongly from the river, in which case it may be necessary to run a hawser to the shore.
