Bima (IDBMU)

Bima port is a small harbour with general cargo, passengers and liquid cargo activities. Cattle are exported from this port. Strong winds from Dec-Mar may affect working of the port.

Bima is situated on the NE coast of the island of Sumbawa in eastern Indonesia.

Harbour: 89m LOA, 6,500DWT Offshore: Draught 6.5m, 80m LOA, 3,500DWT.

Ocean going vessels anchor in the roads.

Depth in the channel threshold is 12m and beyond the channel threshold is 15m.

Port Bima is bounded by the E side of Pulau Kambing (08°28'S 118°41'E) and by lines drawn from the N and SSE extremities of that island to Tanjung Tampa and Tanjung Lawata on the E shore, 1.25nm NE and the same distance SSE of it.

Winds: During the SE monsoon very strong S winds, accompanied by heavy squalls, sometimes blow continuously for many days. The land and sea breezes, however, are usually regular in both monsoons, the SE monsoon blowing directly out through the entrance and the NW monsoon directly in.

Radio: It is recommended to use Jakarta Radio for passing messages at long range, callsign "PKX". Working hours are 0001-0400hrs UTC on 8542kHz and 0001-1200hrs UTC on 8752kHz. Inmarsat communication is possible.

Immigration: All crew members must have a valid travel document.

Should be advised to agent at 10, 3, 2 and 1 day prior to arrival. In addition to date and time of arrival the Master should also advise the estimated draught on arrival.

Free pratique is granted on arrival. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate (SSCC) and Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificate (SSCEC) can be renewed at the major ports.
