Aspropyrgos (GRASS)

The port of Aspropyrgos consists of predominantly tanker terminal's, the most notable of which is operated by Hellenic Petroleum S.A, within the port limits of Eleusis. Dry bulk cargoes are also handled at the port as well as STS operations.

Aspropyrgos is situated to the NE of Eleusis Bay.

LOA 250.104m, beam 44m, draught 11.73m, 116,075DWT.

Approx. 7,500,000t of cargo and 2,500 vessels handled annually.

Gulf of Elevsinas affords good anchorage in depths from 13.0m to 33m. The bottom is remarkably level.

The 2 approach channels lead to the Gulf of Eleusis. The W entrance, Poros Megaron is dredged to 8.0m, over the bottom width of 180m and is suitable for vessels up to LOA 183m. The SE entrance through the Strait of Salamis, is dredged to a depth of 11.0m CD, over a width of 240m.

Berthing is carried out daytime only, unberthing restricted at night.

Compulsory for vessels over 150GT. Piraeus pilots board 1nm off the breakwater. Agent should be cabled 72, 48 and 24 hours advising ETA. Agent informs pilot of vessel's arrival time.

The max speed is 6kts. Both channels are buoyed and lighted but there are some restrictions concerning night navigation in the "SE" channel.

Range 0.43m.

A large number of tugs are available. Tug escorts are compulsory during daytime for vessels over LOA 120m and during the night for vessels over 75m. When passing through the Strait of Salamis, ships lines are used.

Radio: Olympia Radio ("SVA") receives distress or urgent messages and public communication (working channel). Watch frequencies VHF/FM, 2182kHz and HF/DSC as follows: MF 2187.5kHz. HF 4207.5kHz, 6312kHz, 8414.5kHz, 12577kHz, 16804.5kHz. Heraklio, Limnos and Corfu Radio for general watch calling frequencies. The stations work throughout 24 hours. Inmarsat communication is possible. VHF: Piraeus pilot station: Ch 06, 12, 16, works throughout 24 hours. Aspropyrgos Refinery: Ch 08.

Customs allowances: Each officer and crew member is allowed 1 bottle of spirits and 1 carton of cigarettes each. Immigration: Immigration authorities issue crew passes. For EU nationals there are no Immigration procedures. There are special regulations for nationals of countries such as Russia, Poland, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Serbia, Montenegro, Slovakia and South American countries. Crew being repatriated to non European countries must have a ticket which the agent must show to the authorities, agent's guarantees are requested by various authorities.

Initial ETA to be sent to vessel's agent on departure from last port. Additional ETA's to be sent 48, 24 and 12 hours prior to arrival to the vessel's agent. One hour prior to arrival, port authorities, pilot and agents should be contacted by VHF giving exact time of arrival. The ETA message should include: Ship's particulars, cargo information, dangerous cargo (if any onboard, with details), health condition and stowaway details (if any).

Pratique should be applied for on arrival and cannot be applied for by radio.

Can be tendered anytime but will only be accepted between 0800-1700hrs.
