Port Askaig (GBPAK)

It is a small port mainly used by fishing vessels, Ro-Ro and inter-island ferries to the mainland and Jura, other commercial shipping may use the facilities.

Port Askaig is situated at the S side of the Sound of Islay on the NE coast of Islay.

Priority given to scheduled Caledonian MacBrayne ferry sailings.

Main spring range approx 1.7m, mean neap range 0.5m. Port Askaig fronts directly on to the Sound of Islay, just N of the narrowest part where the tidal stream attains a rate of approx 5kts during spring tides.
