Gandia (ESGAN)

The port has a water area of 30ha, with an entrance depth of 9.0m. The wharf is protected by a breakwater. The port mainly handles general cargo, bulk and Ro-Ro vessels.

Gandia is situated approx 35nm S of Valencia.

LOA 107m, draught 5.5m.

Approx 210,000t of cargo and 75 vessels handled annually.

An anchorage is established 1.25nm ENE of Dique del Norte head in a depth of approx 20.0m. The anchorage is recommended during offshore winds, with onshore winds mariners are cautioned regarding El Mitjanet.

Compulsory for all vessels as local knowledge is essential due to shifting shoals near the entrance. Pilots board 0.5nm to 1nm off the harbour entrance.

There is a Customs house located on Aduana Quay.

Safety Equipment Certificate - If vessels carry over 6kg of tobacco per man, the excess to be declared in a separate manifest, which must be visaed by Spanish Consul at the last port, otherwise vessels is exposed to heavy fines.

Notify ETA to the coastal radio station (1580kHz) and the vessel's agent.

If the vessel proceeds directly to the berth, pratique can be obtained immediately after berthing, otherwise at anchorage on arrival. If any vessel has sickness onboard of a contagious nature, the master should advise the health authorities by radio, and they will examine patients upon arrival, to enable the vessel to be granted free pratique.
