Alcudia (ESALD)

The port is a commercial, fishing and yacht harbour with a small naval area. It is able to handle most cargoes including passenger ferries, petroleum products, LPG, bulk cement, general cargo and containers.

Alcudia is situated in Alcudia Bay on the NE coast of Majorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands.

The port is approached through the Bahia de Alcudia and entered W of the head of Muelle Commercial. From a position SE of Cabo Manorca (39°2.0'N 003°12.0'E), the route leads generally SW for about 2nm then W for a farther 2nm, passing, (with positions from Isla de Aucanada (39°50.0'N 003°10.2'E). SE of Punta d'es Farallons (0.5nm NE), fringed with foul ground 1.5nm SW of Cabo Menorca, then SE and S of Isla de Aucanada, a low rocky island, connected by a reef to Punta de Aucanada, close N; a light is exhibited from Isla de Aucanada, then S of Punta del Castillo (Punta de Torre Mayor) (1.2nm W), a rocky point with Torre Mayor an ancient tower standing 0.125nm NE. The ruins of an old monument stand about 0.05nm SE of the tower, then S of the head of Muelle Commercial of Puerto de Alcudia (1.5nm SW); a light (green triangle on white tower, 5m in height) stands on the head of Muelle Commercial. Compulsory for inward and outward vessels over 500GT. Pilot boards 0.4nm S of the head of Muelle Commercial in position 39°49.6'N 003°08.5'E. Contact Practicos de Alcudia. VHF Ch 14 or Ch 16, 1 hour before arrival or departure. Pilotage service is available throughout 24 hours.

It has been reported that strong NW winds during the winter months (Nov-Mar) make berthing and unberthing dangerous.

There is 1 x 1,100hp tug available.
