Tongjiang (CNTOJ)

The port is made up of two areas called Henjiang and Hayudao and is open from May 1st to the end of Oct. For the rest of the year, it is blocked by ice. The port experiences two flood periods each year. One caused by melting ice and the other by heavy rainfall. Port of Tongjiang is the largest river port in Heilongjiang province. The port mainly handles timber, containers, dry bulk and general cargo.

Tongjiang port is located on the Songhua River in the Heilongjiang Province, on the Russian border.

LOA 100m, max draught 4.0-5.0m FW (Oct-Jun), 7.0-8.0m FW (Jul-Sep), 5,000DWT.

Approx 600,000t of cargo and 20,000 passengers annually.

Max draught in the channels: Jul-Sep 7-8.0m FW, Oct-Jun 4-5.0m FW.

Winds: In winter the Tongjiang area is subject to the polar air mass and is cold and dry. In summer it is humid and dry. Temp: Highest 37°C, lowest, -40C. Annual average 17°C, July is the warmest month at approx. 23°C. Rainfall: Mostly during the period from Jun-Sep. Fog: From the period Jun-Sep. However it has no effect on navigation or port operations. Ice: From mid November the ice begins to accumulate on the river, finally freezing to a thickness of approx 1.2m for a periood of up to 160 days.
