Taixing (CNTAX)

The port of Taixing is for the transport of Taixing's local trade and also the transhipment of cargoes.It has 4 harbour areas which are situated in the counties of Taixing, Huangqiao, Kouan and Guochuan. Two on the Changjiang River and two on the Rutai Canal. It has a natural shoreline totalling more than 10km and a land area of more than 40,000mІ. The main cargoes handled in the port are coal, ore materials and non-metallic ore. The port also handles bulk, breakbulk, steel and liquid cargo.

The port of Taixing is located in Taixing county in Jiangsu Province, on the N bank of the lower reaches of the Changjiang (Yangtze) River. It is a port for the Changjiang water systems.

Approx 60,000,000t of cargo (including 13,000,000t of coal) handled annually.

The highest water level over the year for the operational areas along the Changjiang River is 5.66m, the lowest is -0.82m during the dry season and the average water level is 3.03m. The tidal range is approx 2.5m during the summer and autumn and approx 1.0m during the winter and spring. The highest water level over the year for the operational areas along Rutai Canal is 3.5m, the lowest is 1.5m and the average water level is 2.5m. The max flow velocity is 2.9kts and the average is 2.4kts. The max flow is 325mі/s, the min is 252mі/s and the average is 288mі/s.

Prevailing wind: E'ly and SE'ly. Wind occurs mainly SE'ly in the spring with wind velocity of 69kts and mainly NW'ly in winter with the velocity of 58kts. Rainfall: The annual average rainfall is approx 1,000mm, mainly between Jun and Sep. Snowfall: The average annual snowfall is 7 days. Mist: Fog occurs on average for 56 days annually, mainly in the autumn and lasting for a short period. Navigation in the port is not affected. Temperature: The average annual temperature is 15°C, the highest is 39°C and the lowest -12°C. Ice: The port is ice free.
