Jingtang is an alternative name for Tangshan.

The port of Tangshan, also known as Jingtang, is located to the SE of Tangshan City, 105km from Qinhuangdao in the NE and 180km from Tianjin in the W.

LOA 340m, beam 62m, draught 19.5m, 324,995DWT.

Approx 770,000,000t of cargo (including 337,930,000t of coal and 206,550,000t of iron ore) and 3,000,000TEU merged traffic figure with Caofeidian handled annually. Jingtang (Tangshan) Approx 277,000,000t of cargo handled annually.

Jingtang Gang bulk cargo anchorage is centred on 39°09.8'N 119°07.1'E. The dangerous cargo anchorage is centred on 39°08'N 119°04'E. Bottom mud and sand which provides good holding in a depth of 13.0-16.0m. The anchorages can accept vessels up to 50,000DWT and are used for vessels waiting for quarantine, and pilotage.

An entrance channel, width 160m, depth 12.0m CD and marked by lightbuoys, extends approx 2.7nm from the port. Approach and entry: The port is approached from the E and entered through a channel marked by lightbuoys (lateral), and leading lights. Directions for entering harbour: From the pilotage/quarantine anchorage the track leads generally NW through the fairway to a position at the beginning of Jintang Middle Leading Lights leading line. Jintang Middle Leading Lights. The alignment (315.25°) of the following lights leads generally NW to the end of the leading line: Front Light (rhombus on red and white metal framework tower, 39m in height) (39° 13'N 118°59'E). Rear Light (similar construction, 56m in height), (0.65nm NW of Front Light).

Compulsory. Pilot service is available daytime only. Pilots board at Jingtanggang anchorage or at entrance to the channel.

A light is exhibited from a white round concrete tower with red bands, 35m in height, at Jingtang Gang (39°13'N 119°01'E).

The port is subject to irregular diurnal tide. The peak level is 2.24m and the lowest is 0.04m. The average range is 1.98m. It floods from SW and ebbs from NE. The max rate of the flow is 0.9 to 1.1kts.

16 tugs are available, 3,200hp x 2, 4.000hp x 4, 5,000hp x 6, 5,200hp x 1, 6,500hp x 2 and 7,200hp.

Prevailing wind: S'ly and SW'ly. The strongest wind is NE'ly. Wind exceeding 27kts occurs annually at a frequency of 0.61%. The port is hardly affected by typhoons. Rainfall: The average annual rainfall is 616mm. Heavy rain mainly occurs between Jul and Aug. Mist: Fog occurs on average for 3 days annually (when visibility is less than 1,000m). The port is hardly affected by fog. Temperature: The average annual temperature is 10°C. July is the hottest month with an average temperature of 24°C. January is the coldest month with an average temperature of -7°C. Ice: The ice period is between Jan and Feb when there is a little firm ice along the bank. Navigation of vessels is not affected.

Vessels ETA should be sent 72 and 48 hours before arrival, an additional ETA should then be sent 24 hours prior to arrival. The ETA message should include anchor position, time, fore and aft draught and ROB.

Signal flags are to be displayed prior to Quarantine officers coming onboard.

Pratique should be applied for at the Jingtang anchorage.

Cargo no standby or no berth messages are required to avoid delays on arrival.
