Shahezi (CNSEZ)

The port is the largest port for coal transport in Heilongjiang Province. It has a land area of 4,080,000mІ and a water area of 8,240,000mІ. The natural shoreline is 35km in length. The port is open for approx 210 days annually and remains frozen from early Nov to early Apr. The main cargoes handled in the port are coal and general cargo

The port of Shahezi is located on the S bank of the middle reaches of the Songhuajiang River, part of the Heilong River system. It lies 300km downstream of Harbin port and 145km upstream of Jiamusi.

The channel leading to the port which extends SW''ly and NE''ly can accept ships of 1,000DWT.

The annual highest water level is 100m, the lowest is 95.0m and the average water level is 96.8m. The maximum flow over the years is 54,000mі/s.

Wind: The annual average wind velocity is 8.5kts and the max is 58kts. Rainfall: The average annual rainfall is 561mm with the highest rainfall recorded in Aug. Snowfall: Average annual snowfall is 37 days, max thickness 50cm. Mist: Fog occurs on average for 3 days annually, mainly in Sepember. Fog: Annual average of 3 days when fog lasts more than 4 hours a day. Temperature: The highest temperature is 36°C and the lowest is -40°C. Ice: The port is closed between early Nov and mid Apr for approx 150 days when ice and floating ice occur.
