Dongtai (CNDGT)

The main cargoes handled in the port are coal, iron and steel, ore materials, cement, timber, non-metallic ore, chemical fertiliser, agricultural chemicals, grain, cotton and petroleum.

The port of Dongtai is located on the Subei Plain in Jiangsu Province, at the juncture of Nantong, Yangzhou and Yancheng. It is a port for the Changjiang water systems, 59km from the Yellow Sea.

The highest water level of Chuanchang River in history is 3.6m and the lowest is 0.7m. The highest navigable water level is 2.4m and the lowest is 0.7m.

Prevailing wind: E'ly and SE'ly. Wind occurs mainly NW'ly in the winter with a speed of approx 6kts and the max of 45kts. Rainfall: Average annual rainfall is 1,069mm, mainly occurring between Jun and Sep. Mist/Fog: Fog occurs approx 41 days annually, mainly between Apr and Oct. Temperature: The average annual temperature is 14°C. Ice: Thin ice occurs for 2 to 3 days. The port is not affected.
