New Richmond (CANRC)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. It is reported that the commercial berths are no longer used. However there is a marina for small boats.

New Richmond is situated on the northern shore of Baie des Chaleurs in Cascapedia Bay, Cap Noirs.

Anchorage is available SW of New Richmond, 3.5nm NW of Les Caps Noirs. From a position approx 4nm W of Les caps Noirs, the anchorage is approached on the line of bearing 033° of New Richmond Church (37m high) 3.5nm NW of Les Caps Noirs.

Baie des Chaleurs is entered between Northwest Miscou Point (48°02'N 064°32'W) and Pointe au Maquereau 15nm NW. Chaleurs Bay is the largest bay in the Gulf of St Lawrence. From an initial position, approx 20nm NE of Miscou Light, the approach to Baie des Chaleurs leads W to a position in mid-channel between Northwest Miscou Point and Pointe au Maquereau, passing: S of Haut-fond Leander and shoals extending 2nm SE from Cap d'Espoir, then: N of shoal water, with depths of less than 9.1m, extending 3nm N from Northwest Miscou Point. From a position in mid channel the route through the outer part of Baie des Chaleurs leads SW for approx 20nm to a position between Pointe de Maisonette and Pointe Huntingdon. From this position, the main route through the middle part of Baie des Chaleurs leads WSW, passing, with positions from Paspebiac Light (48°01'N 065°15'W): SSE of the sandpit extending SSW from Pointe de Paspebiac, then: SSE of Pointe Bonaventure (8nm W). From abreast Pointe Bonaventure, the main route leads WNW, passing: NNE of Belledune Point (47°54'N 065°50'W), then: SSW of Les Caps Noirs (48°07'N 065°49'W). Baie de Cascapedia (48°09'N 065°56'W) is entered between Les Caps Noirs (Black Cape) and Pointe Tracadigache 13nm W.

Miscou Island Light is a white, 8 sided tower, 24m in height situated in position 48°01'N 064°30'W.

Halifax Coast Guard Radio (callsign "VCS") can be used for passing messages throughout 24 hours. Amver messages can be passed through "VCS". Halifax Coast Guard CRS has sites at Sambro (44°28.33'N 063°37.27'W); Ecum Secum (44°57.87'N 062°08.92'W); Kingsburg (44°16.53'N 064°17.25'W). HF and MF frequencies are used, depending upon distance from station.

Allowances: For each officer or crew member the allowance is 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 0.9kg of tobacco and 1.1 litres of liquor or 8.2 litres of beer or ale. A penalty for non compliance will be implemented. Immigration: Routine filing of documents is undertaken by the vessel's agent. There are no restrictions on crew and/or passengers except those who require a visa. If they do not possess a visa they must remain aboard the vessel.

State flag to be flown over the stern and Canadian flag at the mast.

Pratique should be applied for when arriving from a country which has infectious diseases or death onboard from unknown causes. Pratique is applied for through the vessel's agent. Ship Sanitation Control Certificate and Exemption Certificates can be renewed.

NOR normally tendered when vessel secured alongside berth except most tankers tender on arrival pilot station or at port limits.
