Ras Al Khaimah (AERKT)

It is reported that the new Al-Jazeera container terminal has been opened at Ras Al Khaimah. The Port Operator, Al Hamra Shipping and Maintenance, is to dredge the port channel up to 9.0m to handle medium sized feeder vessels, besides installing two gantry cranes. The proposed box facility is expected to be operational within the next six months. The port is handling bulk materials such as rock and aggregate for construction projects in the Gulf. Two more multipurpose jetties are being added, taking the total to nine to meet the growth of bulk and break bulk cargo such as pelletised and bagged cement. Expansion at the port continues.

LOA 210.7m, beam 26.5m, 3882DWT. The acceptance of extra length vessels up to 250m shall be subject to 48 hours prior approval from the Chief Executive Officer or in his absence the Deputy General Manager of the Saqr Port Authority.

Standardised ‘Berthing Request Form’ and ‘Pre- Arrival Forms’ are available for download at the Marine section of RAK Ports website https://rakports.ae/marine. They must be fully completed and sent to Control Tower no later than 48h prior to arrival. If the duration of the voyage is less than 48h, then these must be provided no later than the time of departure from the previous port. (2) The Master or vessel's agent should send an updated ETA, 48h, 24h, and 12h in advance to the Control Tower, then with the amendments at 6h and 3h notice on VHF Ch 71. (3) Vessel should maintain a continuous listening watch on VHF Ch 16 when within 12 hours of arrival. (4) A continuous listening watch on VHF Chs 71 and 16 should be maintained at all times when the vessel is within the port limits.
