Ahmed Bin Rashid Port (AEARP)

Umm al Qaiwain is an alternative name for Ahmed Bin Rashid Port.

Tropical.

The port is located on the Gulf coast, approx 48km NE of Dubai.

Length 210m, draught 9.8m.

Vessels may anchor in the approaches in depths of up to 12.5m. Caution: Two foul areas are reported to exist approx 0.1nm S of channel lightbuoys, one either side of the channel. There is no danger to surface navigation but should be avoided by vessels anchoring.

Two lightbuoys Nos 1 & 2 mark the N entrance to the channel while light beacons mark the channel and the perimeter of the turning circle. The entrance channel has a minimum depth of 10.0m, width of 100m increasing to 160m at the northern end of Wharf No 4 and connects to a 500m diameter turning circle at the southern end of Wharf No 3.

Pilotage is compulsory and should be requested 24 hours prior to arrival. VHF Ch 16, 10, operates between 0800-1700hrs. Pilot boards in the anchorage area 25° 38.0'N 055°34.5'E.

All navigable and tidal waters from the outermost navigation marks of the deep water approach channel, up to and including the area buoyed and marked as the turning point. All quays, roads, paths, godowns, accommodations, utility services, wharves and training walls, enclosed by the boundary fence from No 1 Deep Water Berth up to and including the S training wall. All training walls and breakwaters adjacent thereto as may effect the navigation of the channel, including approved anchorage.

Range 1.4m. Vessels using the channel are cautioned that the flood tidal stream sets across the fairway from W to E close N of the Groyne, sometimes in excess of 2kts.

The Master of the vessel may be refused a Customs Certificate until such time as all charges due in respect of the vessel and all penalties and expenses to which the vessel and the Master are liable under this Ordinance or the port rules or port tariff have been paid or satisfactorily secured.

The Master of any vessel arriving in the port shall produce such information and documents in relation to the vessel, passengers and cargo thereof as may be required by the port rules. The Port Authority shall have the power to order any vessel to leave the port if, in its opinion, the vessel has onboard cargo or other matters injurious to health or offensive in any respect, and may take any reasonable measures either to remove the vessel or to dispose of the said cargo or other injurious or offensive matter. The owner shall be liable for all expenses incurred by the Port Authority in connection herewith. Any Master who produces any documents or gives any information which is false in any material particular, shall be guilty of an offence. Ordinance and, without prejudice to any other penalties which may be provided for in this Ordinance, liable therefore to a fine. ..... Every merchant vessel within the port between sunrise and sunset shall fly their national flag and the flag of the UAE. Before entering the port every vessel shall hoist the following flags: The "Q" flag, International Code, unless the port health officer has previously given pratique. The "I" flag, International Code, if carrying passengers. The "H" flag, International Code, denoting that a pilot is onboard, if applicable.

Port Rules: ..... 1. Vessel may not enter the port without a pilot. 2. The agent or owner of a vessel intending to enter the port shall, as early as possible, give notice in writing to the Port Authority on the form provided of the expected date and time of arrival of the vessel and shall give particulars in such notice of the nature and quantity of cargo to be loaded or discharged and other matters of importance. 3. The Master of every vessel arriving in the port, with the exception of Warships and vessels exempted under the terms from time to time of the port tariff, shall at once make and deliver on the form provided a true statement of the particulars required thereon. 4. Every vessel entering or mooring within the port shall be liable to pay port dues at rate contained in the port tariff. 5. The Master of every vessel entering the port may be required to produce the vessel's Certificate of Registry. 6. The tonnage of any vessel, for the purpose of assessing dues, shall be that shown on her Certificate of Registry. 7. No vessel shall enter or exit through the entrance to the port without the permission of the Harbour Master. 8. Vessels will not enter the channel inward nor leave the berth outward without the permission of the Harbour Master which may be conveyed to them through the shore staff. All other traffic is to keep clear of vessels underway in the channel.
