Su Tu Den Offshore Terminal (VNSTD)

Su Tu Den oil field is connected to the shore by pipeline and offload tankers load from the turret moored FPSO 'Thai Binh-VN', via tandem moorings and floating pipeline. The FPSO is operated by Cuu Long Joint Operating Company.

Su Tu Den oil field is approx 80nm E of Vung Tau. The field is located adjacent to the Ruby field.

For Export Tankers requesting to anchor, the recommended area is located northwest of the field and form circular by the centre point with coordinates: 10°29'00"M - 108°'18"00E.

Pilotage is compulsory. Mooring Master boards in position 10°21.2'N 108° 23.4'E. If the weather is bad, the pilot will board 4 miles S of Mui Vung Tau. Berthing is done in daylight only, while unberthing is done 24 hours.

The surface currents of the South China Sea are influenced mainly by the NE and SW monsoon winds which control the flow of water into or from Sulu sea, Java Sea and through Taiwan Strait. The main current flows on the West side of the region and sets Southwest (November to April) during the Northeast monsoon and North east (June to September) on the Southwest monsoon. During the regime of either monsoon, the appropriate current has a high constancy but more variations, and even occasionally reversals may occur with irregularities in the monsoon. The main current trends with the monsoonal wind direction, at up to 3 knots on the surface.
