Port Chester Harbor (USUXZ)

Principal commerce is in building materials and petroleum products.

Port Chester Harbor lies at the mouth of Byram River, the lower part of which forms the boundary between the states of Connecticut and New York.

Max. size: Draught 4.3m.

Anchorage for small vessels is available E of the channel and W of the breakwater in depths of 1.5m.

Entrance: The harbour is entered between the breakwater extending S from Byram Point, and the N part of Manursing Island. A dredged entrance channel, marked for 0.3nm above the entrance, leads N through the harbour. Directions: From a position SE of Byram Point the approach to Port Chester leads through waters obstructed by rocks, passing (with reference to Byram Point Breakwater Light, 40°59'N 073°39'W): NE of Bluefish shoal (0.9nm SSE), then: Clear of Fourfoot Rocks (0.7nm ESE), taking into account that it is marked on its S side, then: SW of Great Captain Rocks (0.3nm ESE) marked on its NE side by a No 2 Buoy (starboard hand) then: NE of Manursing Island reef (0.1nm SSE), marked on its NE side by a buoy (port hand), then: SW of Byram Point Breakwater Light (red triangle on framework tower), then: NW of No 3 channel Beacon (green square on framework tower, 0.2nm WNW). Caution: The channel in Byram River is fairly well defined at LW, but those without local knowledge should take it on a rising tide and proceed with caution.

A fixed road bridge with a vertical clearance of 18.3m crosses the river 0.8nm above the entrance.

For crew not to be detained onboard, each crew member must have a visa in their passport or Seaman's Book.
