Fairway anchorage in mid position 29°35'N 093°40'W, depths 8.0-11m.

The approach is made through Sabine Neches Canal and Sabine River. Entry is made directly from the river into the wharf area. Sabine Neches Canal: From a position at the NW end of Port Arthur Canal, in the vicinity of 29°49'N 093°57'W, the track, marked by light beacons and leading lights, leads generally NE within the banks of Sabine Neches Canal for a distance of 9.5nm to the mouth of Neches River. Sabine River: The track, marked by lightbuoys, light beacons and leading lights in some of the reaches, leads generally NNE within the banks of Sabine River, for a distance of 6.5nm to the berths at Orange Harbour, passing Municipal Wharf after 5.5nm. Pilotage is compulsory, pilot station maintains a 24 hour continuous watch on VHF Ch 12. The pilot boat is a motor vessel with black hull. Pilots board in positions: 29°25'N 093°40'W, by Sabine Bank Lightbuoy or 29° 35'N 093°48'W, by No 29 Lightbuoy, 3nm SSE of E Jetty Head Light.
