πŸ“‹ Port Overview

βœ“ ISPSβœ“ ECA
The port area includes Alameda Island, formerly the home of the Alameda Naval Complex, located on the W side, which closed in 1997. Now known as Alameda Point, some piers are still used by naval vessels, while the area awaits redevelopment. The main commercial port facility for the Island, which includes the Alaska Basin, was formerly owned by a private company, Encinal Terminals and was the largest privately owned steamship terminal in the US. The DelMonte Company also operated a large private facility at Alameda port. Latterly, a large part of the port area is being redeveloped with some quays and piers still in use.
