Bangor (USBGR)

Bangor is mainly used for discharging oil and the major commercial and cultural center for eastern and northern Maine. The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information is retained should the port reopen.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

The port is situated at the furthest navigable reach on the Penobscot River, inland 49nm.

Max draught 5.7m.

Controlling depth along marked channel in Penobscot River from Bucksport to Winterport is 5.79m; then 3.96m to Bangor. Channel marked by buoys to a point about 1nm below S Brewer.
