Rize (TRRIZ)

The port's main cargoes include general and dry bulk cargo. Copper concentrate is exported with wood products, coal and fertilizer being amongst the imported goods. Passenger Ro-Ro ferries operate from the port.

Rize port is located NW of the town close E of Pyrios Burnu, on the Black Sea coast approx 75km E of Trabzon.

Draught 9.4m, Max 45,000DWT.

Anchorage is obtainable in the outer harbour in depths of 12.0m, 0.6nm SE of the inner harbour entrance.

Directions for entering harbour: From a position NE of Piryos Burnu the inner harbour is entered between the heads of the breakwater. Caution: Due to the breakwater extension works, mariners are advised not to enter at night.

The harbour area of Rize comprises all waters S of a line joining Taslidere Burnu with a position 0.25nm N of Piryos Burnu.

Ayana Dagi (40°58'N 040°29'E). Lights (concrete towers) mark the head of each breakwater.

Currents: The Tasli Deresi, which enters the sea at Taslidere Burnu, sets W.
