Limas (TRLMA)

The port handles general cargo, container, and liquid cargo. There also two private vehicle terminals close west of Limas, Ford Otosan and Autoport Terminal.

Limas lies on the S side of the Gulf of Izmit in the Sea of Marmara.

Mooring arrangements: Tankers moor using both bow anchors and sternlines to Jetty No 3.

Pilotage is compulsory in the Gulf of Izmit from Darica to the ports for berthing, unberthing and anchoring, provided by Dekas Pilot. See Izmit for more details.

Compulsory and provided by Med Marine. There are 6 tugs available, ranging from 29-41bhp.

Call Turk Radio on MF & HF bands, (ship-to-shore communication is by VHF-DSC channels 16, 70 near to Turkey). Forecasts and other meteorological events are broadcast in Turkish on VHF Ch 16 and 67 and updated every three hours. (Broadcast in English on VHF if required). VHF: Dekas Pilot: Ch 16, 12.

Vessels calling at Turkish ports have to obtain Customs clearance. Nobody can join or leave the ship before inspection is completed. Vessels may be cleared at anchorage or alongside and sometimes in the straits of Dardanelles and Bosphorus. The clearance party consists of 1 Sanitary Officer, 1 or more Immigration Police, 1 or more Customs Officer. Customs allowance: Ten packets of cigarettes and one bottle of spirits per crew member per week.

ETA should be sent 48, 24 and 12 hour prior to arrival and should include request for pilot and tugs.

All foreign ships are required to fly Turkish flag during their stay in Turkish ports or anchorages and also when passing through the Turkish straits (Dardanelles and Bosphorus).

Berthing daylight hours only, but vessels may unberth at any time.

Vessels calling at Turkish ports have to obtain free pratique.

NOR will be received by Loading Master or receivers of cargoes. It should be tendered at the time of pilot boarding, anchoring or arrival points.
