Bartin (TRBTN)

The Port of Bartin, located on Turkey's Black Sea coast, is a general-purpose and naval port operating year-round. It handles a diverse range of cargo, including steel products, logs, cement, gypsum, construction materials, diatomite, tar, pulp, coal, break bulk and forest products, while prohibiting vessels carrying dangerous cargoes. The port also supports efficient breakbulk and dry bulk operations.

The port of Bartin is located on the southern Black Sea coast of Turkey, to the N of Ankara.

LOA 157.79m, beam 26m, 24,306DWT.

Approx 600 vessels and 1,900,000t of cargo are handled annually.

There are depths of 8.0m or more in the approaches to and in the centre of the outer harbour. Depths in the outer harbour are liable to change due to silting from the Bartin Cayi. Turning Basin: A turning circle, with a depth of 8.0m and radius 300m, is situated between the main wharf and the N breakwater. Directions: From a position NW of Demirli Burnu Light the white sector (060°-065°) of Bartin Limani directional light (white four sided metal tower,5m in height) (41°41.4'N 032°13.8'E) leads into the harbour, passing between head of Kuzey Mendirek, marked by a light, and heads of two arms of Guney Mendirek, both of which are marked by lights.

Pilotage is compulsory for Turkish merchant vessels of 1,000GT or more and for all foreign flag vessels of greater than 150GT. Pilot boards in the outer harbour anchorage area or from Zonguldak Port.

The port limits are between 41°43.58'N 032°20.24'E Kadirga Burnu and 41° 35.06'N 032°04.30'E Filyos, distance 13km from town.

Vessels carrying dangerous cargoes, including chemical carriers and tankers are prohibited. Prohibited area: A military harbour, to which entry is prohibited, is situated in the NE and E parts of the inner harbour.

Available and their use is compulsory for all vessels over 2,000GT, except warships.

Call Turk Radio on MF & HF bands, (ship-to-shore communication is by VHF-DSC channels 16, 70 near to Turkey). Vessels calling at Turkish ports have to obtain Customs clearance. Nobody can join or leave the ship before inspection is completed. Vessels may be cleared at anchorage or alongside and sometimes in the straits of Dardanelles and Bosphorus. The clearance party consists of 1 Sanitary Officer, 1 or more Immigration Police, 1 or more Customs Officer. Customs allowance: Ten packets of cigarettes and one bottle of spirits per crew member per week.

ETA should be sent 48, 24 and 12 hour prior to arrival and should include request for pilot and tugs.

All foreign ships are required to fly Turkish flag during their stay in Turkish ports or anchorages and also when passing through the Turkish straits (Dardanelles and Bosphorus).

Vessels calling at Turkish ports have to obtain free pratique.

NOR will be received by Loading Master or receivers of cargoes. It should be tendered at the time of pilot boarding, anchoring or arrival points.
