Surat Thani is one of the biggest provinces situated near the bank of Tarpee River on the Gulf of Thailand, in the SW of Thailand.

The anchorage area is within approx 3miles of Ko Prap island.

There are three major lights to Surat Thani port which is the Ko Prap Light (9° 15.91'N 99°25.88'E) stands on the summit of Ko Prap island and Ko Prap B (9° 16.05'N 99°25.88'E) light stands close off Ko Prap island, two further lights of C and D (9°11.24'N 99°22.54'E) stand at the river mouth at the entrance of Surat Thani.
