Health regulations
Pratique can be applied for by radio not less than 4 hours and no more than 12 hours of arrival. Ship Sanitation Control and Exemption Certificates cannot be renewed at this port. Any vessel which intends to anchor must show flag "Q" at the foremast head. When pratique has been granted, "Q" flag is hauled down to indicate that intercourse between the vessel and the island is permitted. Any vessel placed in quarantine shall continue to show the "Q" flag by day and by night shall exhibit, from the foremast, two white lights in a vertical line at a distance apart of not less than 1.2m or more than 1.8m. Masters of vessels arriving at the port are not to leave, or permit any other person to leave their vessel, either to go ashore or onboard any other vessel in the harbour, before receiving pratique from the health officer or harbour master. Vessels calling at St Helena for refuge, to land a sick person, or for other reasons, are advised to anchor as previously described since port officials, including medical staff, will not board a vessel unless it is at anchor. However, if a vessel is unable to anchor, it should heave to 1nm NNW of Ladder Hill Point. If anyone is to be landed, a port launch will convey them ashore.
Notices of readiness
