Halmstad (SEHAD)

A well sheltered port handling diversified cargo such as scrap metal, containers, vehicles, cement, fertilisers, grain and liquid bulk. The port, along with Varberg (located 60km N of Halmstad), is owned by Ports of Halland (Hallands Hamnar AB). The Head Office is located in Halmstad.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Situated on the W coast of Sweden, facing the Kattegat.

Max LOA 200m, beam 32.26m, draught 9.5m, 63,542DWT.

Anchoring is prohibited in the River Nissan within 50m of both sides of underwater cables crossing the river N of the shipyard. Warning signs are displayed.

From the Fairway Buoy a straight channel of 120m width and 12.2m depth leads towards the lighthouse on the head of the outer breakwater.

Pilotage area: SW Fairway Buoy by either of two pilot boats, one length 15.5m speed 21kts and the other 13.5m speed 9.5kts. Compulsory reporting before arrival, turning, shifting and sailing within Halmstad port-area, to be given for all shifts by VHF, calling "Halmstad Pilots". Max speed within the harbour area is 5kts.
