Forsmark (SEFOR)

The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. Forsmark is used solely as a port for the nuclear power plant and is closed to non authorised traffic. Normally there is ice from the last week of December until the last week of March/first week of April. The harbour is formed by and protected by a breakwater on the N side and a pier.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Zone for ships of 100m or less. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Forsmark is approx 12km WNW of Oregrund, in the district of Uppsala on Sweden's E coast.

The harbour is aproached through a channel, marked by buoys (spar) and lightbuoys, with the entrance 3km E of Ingoren. The entrance channel is authorised to a draught of 5.5m. In daylight the aligment (259°) of leading beacons on Langoren lead towards the entrance channel Directions for entering harbour: From a position approx 1nm NNW of Belllonagrundet Light the track leads WSW in the white sector of Storskaret Light for approx 2nm to the entrance channel.

Pilot boards SE of Svartklubben (60°08.8'N 018°52.6'E). Svartklubben pilots have a heavy cutter for ice and bad weather conditions speed 9kts, boarding speed 6kts and a fast cutter speed 17kts, boarding speed 8kts.

There can be fast ice of up to 40-50cm in the port and at the entrance. In a normal winter there is seldom packed ice off the pilot station or in the Aland Sea.

A prohibited area, near Forsmark, extends SE from the harbour area to the entrance channel abreast Stanggrundet Light. It is forbidden to take photographs, make sketches, carry explosives or enter the area without proper authority.
