The port is currently closed for commercial operations. Information for the port is retained should the port reopen. The harbour is only suitable for small vessels and is usually icebound from the first half of Nov until the first half of Apr.

Oktyabrskiy is a small port located in the Sea of Okhotsk on the W coast of Kamchatka Peninsula. It is situated on the narrow spit of sand W of Ozero Bolshoye, 7nm N of the entrance to the River Bolshaya.

Vessels up to LOA 60m, 500GT and draught 3.5m may enter the harbour at HW in favourable conditions.

Obtainable 0.8-1.2nm off the mouth of Reka Bolshaya in a depth of 9.0m, bottom fine sand, good holding ground.

Non-Russian vessels must use Fairway 21 commencing in position 52°35.3'N 155° 55.7'E, 12nm WSW of a conspicuous chimney on a course of 070° for 10.5nm. The fairway has a width of 2nm. A reciprocal track should be adopted on departure.

Compulsory for vessels entering the river with a draught of 2m or more. Available 24 hours. Requests for pilots should be made via the Despatcher's Office to the Port Director. Oktyabrskiy 1: Call "Oktyabrskiy 1" VHF Ch 11; Oktyabrskiy 2: Call "Oktyabrskiy 2" 2575kHz; Oktyabrskiy 4: Call "Oktyabrskiy 4" 2182, 2300kHz; Oktyabrskiy 58: Call "Oktyabrskiy 58" VHF Ch 16, 11. To assist vessels the Port Radio Station will transmit, on request, DF bearings on 418kHz. In conditions of reduced visibility or when navigational aids are inoperative the Coast Radar Station can provide radar pilotage on request to the Port Director.

Defined by the parallels of 52°26'N and 52°41.2'N leading W to positions 0.9nm from the coast and by a line joining these positions.

Bolsheretskiy Light (round metal tower, black and white bands, 25m in height) (52°33.8'N 156°18.5'E). Conspicuous chimney (52°39'N 156°14'E) standing close to the coast at Oktyabrskiy.

In the entrance to Ozero Bolshoye ingoing tides attain a rate of 3-3.5kts and outgoing tides 4-5kts.

Ice: From Jan - Mar ice may extend 4.3 to 13nm offshore.
