Braila (ROBRA)

The port mainly handles, general cargo, steel, timber, grain, livestock and containers.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length, Winter Dec 1 to Feb 28/29, Summer Mar 1 to Nov 30.

The port of Braila is a sea-river port located on the left bank of Danube river.

LAO 140.88, beam 20.01m, and 13,500DWT.

1,200,000t cargo handled annually.

The anchorage zone is established between Km 171 - 172 and between Km 166 - 168.5, Each zone has a capacity for 7 - 8 seagoing vessels.

Depths in the approach channel vary from 11.0-25.0m. Caution: A sand and stone bank on the E bank between Km 171 and 172 is a danger to navigation.

Compulsory. Available throughout 24 hours. Pilot boards at Sulina Roads. River pilots are replaced by port pilots at the roads or during navigation in the port zone. No vessel should proceed into the port without permission from Port Control.

Three tugs available 1 x 1500hp, 1 x 650hp and 1 x 2700hp.

Prevailing winds: Variable. Danger of ice in hard winters, but port remains open all year round. Dense fog in Dec and Jan.

VHF: Harbour Master: Ch 16, 68, Port Pilots: Ch 14.

Upon arrival, Customs, Immigration and Harbour Master Officers visit the vessel in the presence of the agent for checking both the vessel and crew documents. Any crew or passenger embarkation or disembarkation is effected through Customs and Immigration Authorities.

These documents are kept at the Harbour Master's office until the vessel's departure from the port. It is the agent's duty to handle documents to and from the Harbour Master's office. Cargo Plan 5 These documents are distributed by vessel's agents to parties involved. The form of these documents is that used in international maritime activities.

Notice of ETA should be sent 72, 48 and 24 hours prior to arrival at Black Sea Roads to the agent.

Effective from 01st September 2016, the European Anti-Fraud Office (OLAF) will require sea carriers calling at EU ports to file Container Status Messages (CSMs). Vessels experiencing technical communication problems should report the issue via e-mail to the Commission's help-service email: olaf-afis-it-help-desk@ec.europa.eu.

Application for pratique should be made upon arrival at Sulina for all Danube ports. Renewal of Ship Sanitation Control Exemption Certificates possible.

Custom of the port: NOR to be tendered during official working hours (Mon-Thu 0800-1500hrs, Fri or the day before official holidays or free days, 0800-1200hrs).
