Police (PLPLC)

Police is a river port which serves a large chemical works. Main cargoes handled are rock phosphate, fertilisers, ammonia and sulphuric acid, phosphoric acid, urea adatite, ammoniac and titanium white. The port area consists of the Sea Port, the Barge Port and Majanka Port, which is situated 1km S of the Sea Port.

Summer Zone for ships over 100m in length and Winter Seasonal Area for ships of 100m or less in length. Winter Nov 1 to Mar 31, Summer Apr 1 to Oct 31.

Police is situated approx 15km N of Szczecin, on the NW coast of Poland, on the W bank of the Rzeka Odra.

LOA 199.98m, draught 9.15m, beam 32.26m and 52,404DWT.

Approx 254 vessels and 2,500,000t of cargo handled annually.

Anchorage is available for vessels with max draught of 8.5m, SW of the fairway, between 0.5 and 1nm NW of the N end of Mnisi Ostrow.

The entrance channel has a width of 80m and a depth of 10.5m.

Ice Breaking Service: During the ice season, the ice breaking service is continuously provided by port's tugs on the Swinoujscie approaching channel (N Fairway) and Swinoujscie - Szczecin Fairway. In the vicinity of the port's quays, the ice breaking service is also provided, if necessary. Icebreaker assistance is a separate service on request by agent, VTS Centre Swinoujscie or Szczecin or by direct contact with the tug (icebreaker). An Ice Report is available on request from VTS Centre Swinoujscie or Szczecin.

All vessels over LOA 50m are obliged to use the mooring service. If mooring and unmooring using dolphins, the service should be used regardless of the size of vessel. Boatmen may be ordered through the vessel's agent. The required number of linesmen, depending on the LOA, is given in the following table: ..... Available 24 hours. Compulsory for vessels over LOA 50m, for all vessels carrying dangerous cargo and for all passenger vessels. Vessels should request pilots 2 hours in advance before Pilot Boarding Station, or 15 min before entering VTS area for other vessels. For departure pilot should be requested 2 hours in advance. Pilot boards as follows: ..... 1. Position pilot 1, at Buoy 5, 6 for vessels with draught less than 7.0m FW 2. Position pilot 2, at Buoy 1, 2 for vessels with draught 7.0m to 11.0m FW 3. Position pilot 3, at Buoy N2 for vessels with draught 11.0m to 12.6m FW 4. At the anchorage area when the vessel is at anchor. 5. At Gate No 2 when the vessel sails from Polish-German border line located at Zalew Szczeciriski.

The port is non tidal.

A Vessel Traffic Service is compulsory for the following: ..... 1. Vessels of more than 20m in length 2. Vessels carrying dangerous cargo 3. Unloaded tankers if not degassed after carrying dangerous cargo 4. Passenger vessels A Position Report should be sent to the VTS Centre on Ch 12 and 69 as follows: ..... 1. For vessels requesting pilot 15 min before entering the VTS area 2. When leaving the VTS area 3. When passing the Reporting Points 4. When anchor dropped at anchorage within the VTS area 5. Before leaving an anchorage within the VTS area (15 min) 6. Pilot embarkation or disembarkation 7. When leaving or entering the fairway 8. When berthing or leaving a berth. The Position Report should also contain name, callsign, position and destination. A Deviation Report should be sent on Ch 12 (to VTS Swinoujscie) or Ch 69 (to VTS Szczecin) by vessels changing their Sailing Plan. The report should contain the name, callsign, position and changed designator. An Incident Report should be sent on Ch 12 (to VTS Swinoujscie) or Ch 69 (to VTS Szczecin) by vessels observing or taking part in an accident that impairs safety or the environment. The report should contain name, callsign, position, max draught and (if necessary) Dangerous Goods Report, Harmful Substances Report, and Marine Pollutants Report. Reporting Points: ..... 1. On request. VTS Centre Swinoujscie or Szczecin broadcasts traffic information for the Swinoujscie - Szczecin Fairway on Ch 13.
