Surigao (PHSUG)

The port has a reinforced concrete general purpose wharf. There is a causeway of 175m. Principal commodities: Imports: Iron and steel, flour, sugar, copra, and animal feeds. Exports: Cement, copra, chrome ore, nickel ore and plywood. Taganito (Sub-Port) mainly handles ore, limestone, chemical tankers, sulphur and construction materials.

Surigao, Verano, is located on the eastern side of the mouth of the Surigao River, approx 5km SE of Bilaa Point on the NE tip of Surigao Island.

Harbour: LOA 147.83m, beam 25m, 19,999DWT. Off Shore: LOA 199.9m, 64,247DWT.

Approx 37,000,000t of cargo, 1,500TEU, 25,000 vessels and 3,000,000 passengers handled annually.

Vessels can anchor, in 26 to 29m, sand, within a circle with a diameter of 0.5 mile located E of the light. This anchorage lies close off the steep-to edge of the shore bank and is exposed to the Northeast Monsoon. Some protection is afforded by the islands to the NE. Ships over 140m in length should not anchor within about the 20m curve fronting the bay.

Philippine flag vessels engaged in coastwise trade that depart from anchorage. 5. Vessels calling at private ports whose owners have formally waived the requirement of compulsory pilotage. The port limits are bounded by 09°51.50'N 125°28.50'E.

Surigao Lighthouse, a white pyramidal tower, with a black spiral staircase, positioned on the edge of a coastal reef off Bilanbilan Point, 0.65nm SE of the entrance to Surigao River.

It is not recommended to transit through Hinatuan Passage for purposes of docking at Nonoc pier at night due to unpredictability of the current.

There are two tugboats on standby, available on request.
