Khasab (OMKHS)

The port is protected by a breakwater, which extends 200m ENE from Ra's al Khums.

Tropical.

Khasab port is located on the W side of Khawr Ksab in NW Oman.

Approx. 29,000 vessels and 72,000 passengers handled annually.

Anchorage may be obtained within a designated area centred on 26°17.6'N 056° 15.0'E about 3.75nm W of Ra's Shaykh.. Anchorage may also be obtained off the Port in good holding ground, in winter it is best to remain in depths greater than 18.0m, but in summer anchorage may be obtained in depths of 13.0m, fine sand.

Pilotage is not available. Vessels should contact the harbour 30mins before arrival on VHF channel 67.

A floodlit white cone is displayed at night in the vicinity of the spur breakwater.

Fish traps lie in the approach to the port. They are usually located within 5 miles of the coast; their positions are subject to frequent change.

Mean spring range 1.7m, mean neap range 1.1m.
