Hareid (NOHRI)

Hareid: The commercial port, with its deepwater quay and terminal building, is located at the head of Hareidsbukta. The harbour is protected by two moles with a light exhibited at the head of each. The main commercial berth is outside of the moles and is exposed to E'ly winds. Hjorungavag is approx 1.8nm SE of Hareid, situated in a small, narrow inlet with anchorage for large and small vessels on sand; mooring rings are available. Brandal is approx 1.9nm NNW of Hareid, a small harbour with a single berth and is protected by two moles .

Hareid is located approx 7nm SSW of Aalesund on the SW coast of Norway.

Hareid: LOA 150m, draught 8.7m, 20,00DWT. Hjorungavag: LOA 130m. Brandal: LOA 25m.

Exposed anchorage can be found in Hareidsbukta with good holding ground of sand and clay. Anchorage depth varies between 4.9m-6.1m. There is a further anchorage available, on sand, for large and small vessels in Hjorungavag. Caution: Submarine cables have been laid across Sulafjorden in the vicinity of Hareid and across the mouth of the inlet to Hjorungavag, care should be taken when anchoring in these areas.

The nearest Coastguard station is located approximately 11nm WSW in Fosnavag, Heroy municipality.

Pilotage is compulsory and must be ordered 24 hours prior to arrival, with confirmation at least 5 hours in advance. English is spoken by pilots. Cargo and bunker fuel (UN number and quality of hazardous or polluting cargo, type and quantity of bunker fuel etc) 14. Details of passage (Last port of call, next port of call etc) 15. Details related to pilotage requests and pilotage exemption certificates (PEC) 16. Agent or Operator (i.e. Norwegian contact) 17. Shipping company (Name and address). The pilot boats have black hulls with orange superstructure.

Hareid harbour district comprises the waters W of a straight line joining Kvitneset, the NE point of Hareidlandet and the N section of Hjorungneset.

Night berthing and unberthing are not permitted.
